Galway’s first Wholly Cow Burgers opened in Newcastle
Is there anything better than a really good burger? Galway reared cows making for a succulent 8oz patty, all served in a buttery brioche bun, what goes with the burger will be very simple, as the meat will do the talking. Head chef and co-owner Val has been pickling veg and making his very own signature sauces to compliment every palette.
Wholly Cow Burgers opened in Newcastle on Saturday 20 January and with it comes a serious nod to local, fresh, no bullsh*t approach to food. Its just really good burgers served with hand cut, triple cooked chips.
The menu is simple, 5 burgers, including a beef burger with venison sausage, aged Dubliner cheddar and star anise marmalade or the Cashel Blue burger with crispy smoked belly bacon, Cashel Blue Cheese and homemade red onion relish and Wholly Cow Pickles and of course there is the Wholly non Cow Veggie Chickpea and Coriander Patty served with Kimchi Aoili and chips. The entire burger can be served with beef dripping fires or for vegetarian the homecut fries are cooked in rapeseed oil.

The burgers will be cooked to order, with the classic Wholly Cow being the signature burger, an 8oz patty with Val’s pickles, sharp mature Irish Cheddar, beef tomatoes and a drizzle of the Wholly Cow signature sauce all nestled between a fresh buttery brioche bun, of course with a side of in house beef dripping or rapeseed oil (for our veggies ) cooked chips.

The Eat in Wholly Cow Burgers are served in a wooden tray box, which houses the home cooked chips and burgers perfectly. Inside the restaurant is a neon mounted cow frame and there is seating for 35 people. All food is available to take away, simply call and collect. The Wholly Cow burger can also come gluten free with a gluten free brioche bun an chips available, just ask.

Wholly Cow Burgers is open 7 days a week from 12 noon until 9 pm.
