Detroit Swindle return to Electric tomorrow night

Dutch duo of Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets to play Abbeygate Street venue

JUST WHAT lies behind the success of house duo Detroit Swindle? Perhaps it is their acclaimed ability to strike just that right groove; their talent at seamlessly blending and mixing music from across five decades and continents?

We should not forget either that the Dutch duo of Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets can combine disparate genres of music in a way that keeps audiences dancing, but also keeps them wondering just where a mix is going to go next - literally keeping an audience on its toes! There is also the duo's ethic of constantly searching for ways in which to challenge themselves in their productions and live sets.

Dales and Smeets are as enthusiastic record diggers and vintage synth hunters as they are lovers of modern day electronic music. They tour with an extensive setup of analogue and digital instruments and bring an additional key player as well, to be able to perform unexpected covers in their sets and do some on the spot improvising.

They have played Concrete in Paris and Prince Charles in Berlin; played Heist label showcases across the globe; and run a club with the label at ‘Claire’, the new club of the Disco Dolly crew.

Detroit Swindle play Electric Garden & Theatre on Thursday January 25 at 10pm for the Abbeygate Street venue's third Hoolie of 2018. Support is from Paul Belton. Tickets are available at the door and via https://goo.gl/9WE7UH.. Bicep & Hammer play Electric’s main floor on February 1.
