HOW AN individual's body is treated by the State, as well as by corporate, medical and pharmaceutical institutions, is the theme of a new exhibition, about to open at the Galway Arts Centre.
Ex-Voto, an exhibition featuring work by Lucy Beech, Jenna Bliss, Cecilia Bullo, Judy Foley, Sinéad Gleeson, and Rajinder Singh, opens at the GAC tomorrow at 6pm. This exhibition also explores the subjective experiences of health and illness in the context of institutions - the relationship between an institution and the individual, the role of power, and the impact of capitalism and commerce. The artists have also been inspired by Michel Foucault's The Birth Of The Clinic.
Ex-Voto runs until Saturday March 10. Admission is free.
