Burke elected county board treasurer for 2018

Kinvara's Michael Burke has been elected treasurer of the Galway County Board for 2018.

At the county board convention on Monday night in the Loughrea Hotel, Burke defeated outgoing treasurer John McGann by 132 to 106 votes. Kilconly's Seamus Connolly was proposed and seconded as assistant treasurer.

In the only other contest of the night, Corofin's Tommy Kelly defeated fellow club man Michael Ryder for the position of development officer. Ryder is the current chairman of the Corofin football club.
