More than €700,000, from the Dormant Accounts Fund, will go to for Foróige, to support the youth organisation’s Big Brother Big Sister Programme, following approval by Minister Seán Kyne.
Minister Kyne, who is also Fine Gael TD for Galway West, approved the application from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, to the Dormant Accounts Fund for which Minister Kyne is responsible, as Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development. His approval means a total of €774,933 will go towards the Big Brother Big Sister Programme.
The Big Brother Big Sister Programme is an internationally recognised, professionally-supported, youth mentoring programme through which volunteers support and mentor young people. The funding will help Foróige to continue running the programme which has two strands – community-based and schools-based initiatives.
