Otherkin - garage punk and 'blazing energy'

Band round of an incredible 2017 with Róisín Dubh show

OTHERKIN CLOSE an impressive 2017 - a year which saw them release their debut album, reap critical acclaim, play major festivals, and tour Europe - with an Irish tour taking in Galway.

Otherkin - Luke Reilly (lead vocals, guitar ), Conor Wynne (lead guitar ), David Anthony (bass ), Rob Summons (drums ) - play the Róisín Dubh on Saturday December 16 at 8pm.

OK, the Dublin garage-rockers debut album, was released in September. It was recorded in Ireland with David Prendergast, Jason Boland, and the band at the controls. The tracks were mixed in London by Jolyon Thomas (Slaves, Royal Blood ). The band cites The Clash, QOTSA, Ramones, and Blur as inspirations. This year they toured Britain supporting The Amazons and the Dead Kennedys; made their Download debut; opened for Guns‘N’Roses at Slane Castle; and earned the praise of Metallica’s Lars Ulrich on his Beats1 radio show.

The quartet are no stranger to critical acclaim, with their live shows attracting much enthusiastic praise: "Blistering Dublin garage punks Otherkin play the tent as if it is Madison Square Garden," said The Guardian. Clash described their music as "blazing energy, Morse code guitars, and caveman drums", while The Independent called them "a big mass of energy - four guys who write hugely infectious tracks with rough, snarling, vocals and grunge riffs".

Support is from the excellent Galway band The Clockworks. Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
