My name is Redmond Connolly. I am originally from Abbeyknockmoy but live in Belmullet, a beautiful town on the wild Atlantic way and well worth a visit if you're planning a trip to Mayo. I am a Primary School teacher, teaching since 1982 and I've always had a keen interest in folk and traditional music. During the late seventies/early eighties, I spent many summers playing folk and trad with my brothers Josh and Tosh and a few friends in many of the great Galway pubs like the cellar, Glynns the crane and the hole in the wall. Such great memories. I have recently written a song called Galway town and am hoping to raise funds for Galway Simon community who do so much on behalf of people who are homeless. To me, Galway is the best city (I call it town ) in Ireland and in fact it is difficult to think of a finer place when you consider all Galway has to offer... music, song, dance, football, hurling, rugby, food, theatre, art, sea and shops. But above all, it has kept its soul and that is a tribute to all Galwegians .... Gaillimh abú!!!
If you like my song 'Galway Town' or even if you don't a donation towards Galway Simon community would be greatly appreciated. Let's try and make a difference!!
