Friends of Roger Brady, originally from Bray, County Wicklow, and who lived in Galway for two decades, between 1985 and 2005 were stunned when they learned of his untimely death on Thursday October 26 after a short illness.
Roger who fell in love with Galway in the 80s was a great favourite in the city, where he worked as a hairdresser and later went on to own his own business on Dominick Street called The Hairdresser.
Through Roger’s love of music, he got involved in Galway’s live music scene in the early ‘90s and joined the well known 9-piece soul/rock covers group, The Horny Devils, who played every Thursday in The Roisin Dubh for five years as lead vocalist, with Tanya McCole.
His friends in the band have organised a special reunion of the original line up of The Horny Devils featuring very special guests for the occasion, which promises to be a memorable night of music, song and many stories of the great Roger. The event will take place in the Galway Rowing Club, Woodquay on Thursday next Nov 30, at 8pm.
Everyone who knew Roger and any fans of The Horny Devils, who were one of Galway’s most popular bands in the 1990s are all welcome on the night to celebrate Roger Brady’s time in Galway.
