Peter Kennedy to launch new children's books

Renmore panto dame authors The Spooky Snookeroo and The Spooky Snookeroo

PETER KENNEDY, the Belfastman who has been playing the Renmore Panto's pantomime dame for the past 14 years, and writing its scripts for 12 years, is about to launch his latest venture - children's books.

Peter will launch The Spooky Snookeroo and The Spooky Snookeroo is on the Prowl in Kenny's Bookshop, Liosbán, on Saturday December 2 at 11am. The Spooky Snookeroo is a scary looking character, who beneath the surface just wants to have friends and be loved. The books feature colourful illustrations and poem stories.

Peter is currently in rehearsal for this year’s Renmore panto, where he plays Granny Grumble in Beauty and the Beast. As a long time writer for the Renmore Panto, the transition to children’s book writer seemed a natural step. “When my son Dualta was born I thought it would be nice to read him original bedtime stories, alongside the old favourites," says Peter. "I’ve two boys now. Dualta aged six and Iarlaith aged three, and both are a great inspiration to me. They might say something silly, and it sparks an idea for a character or a story line.”

All are welcome to the launch. Purchases on the day will include a Christmas gift pack of a bookmark, colouring pages. and pencils, a Spooky Snookeroo badge, and an educational word mat. The books are also available via www.petermkennedy.com
