The Claregalway intermediate footballers have enjoyed a super season to date, winning their first Galway intermediate title since 2002 and qualifying for the provincial decider this weekend.
They now hope to finish their season in style on Sunday when they face Michael Glavey’s of Roscommon in Hyde Park (2pm ) in the Connacht intermediate final.
Claregalway defeated both Williamstown and St Johns (Sligo ) in 24 hours two weeks ago, and displayed enough quality, resilience and squad depth to prove Paul Kilgannon's squad is a formidable outfit.
Up front they have some genuinely high quality scoring forwards in players such as Sean Moran, who excelled in those two games, the impressive Barry Goldrick, Mark Rohan, and Galway senior player Danny Cummins.
Attacking options
Conor Kelly caught the eye too with his tally of 1-2 in the county final success, and few intermediate teams have such an array of attacking options up front.
At midfield the powerfully built Eoghan Commins and Darren Hennessy are good players and should provide plenty of supply for their attacking unit.
The foundation blocks of their defence are goalkeeper Brian Donoghue, corner back Mark Goldrick, the impressive and mobile Barry Callanan, and centre-back Stephen Cunniffe.
Assuming Claregalway have recuperated well from their double exertions a fortnight ago, are injury free, and avoid any complacency, they should have the quality and strength in depth to collect another piece of silverware before December arrives.
