St Mary’s College will hold an open evening on Monday November 20 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
All prospective students and their parents are welcome to attend. The evening promises to be a showcase of what St Mary’s College has to offer.
At the heart of the school is an emphasis on providing a caring, warm, and integrated experience for all students.
The college offers a varied curriculum, which includes an optional transition year programme, giving students the opportunity to study a wide range of subjects. Positive teachers, a positive environment, and modern, effective, teaching methods all combine to ensure students reach their full academic potential.
St Mary’s also has a supervised evening and Saturday morning study programme, which is free to first and second year students. Students benefit from a quiet study atmosphere and teacher assistance where required. This has proven to be a distinct advantage in State examinations, and the college is extremely proud of the excellent results achieved by all its students.
The school, which is set on more than 30 acres, provides a wide range of sporting facilities which include Gaelic and soccer pitches, basketball and tennis courts, a fitness suite, a weights room, indoor and outdoor handball courts, a nationally recognised cross country course, and two sports halls.
The college also offers many other extracurricular activities including art, debating, chess, computer programming, membership of the choral society, and preparation for the Young Scientist exhibition.
St Mary’s has devised a healthy eating policy, providing a breakfast club before school, and a carvery dinner at 1pm.
The college works towards providing an all-round education for all students. A trained counsellor, a career guidance teacher, and a special needs department ensure that the needs of all students are catered for.
Through positivity, warmth, and security St Mary's aims to provide a happy environment for staff, students, and their parents. The team look forward to meeting prospective students and their parents on November 20.
