Maigh Cuilinn ladies cruise to Connacht victory

The Moycullen footballers were crowned 2017 Connacht intermediate champions after a facile 6-23 to 5-04 win over St Mary's (Sligo ) last weekend.

Young midfielder Áine McDonagh, who also featured with the Galway seniors this season, was in sparkling form. She notched 1-06 of her side's total in a powerful display from the middle of the park and was selected as player of the match.

Moycullen's first major came from the penalty spot from Megan Davoren, and that was soon followed by another by Katie Carter, whose father Johnny Carter is a member of the management team.

St Mary's fought back well, but Moycullen took complete control and hit 4-16 in a stunning scoring spree that left St Mary's shattered.

As well as McDonagh, Moycullen had other big scoring displays from wing-forward Catherine Connaire 0-5, substitute Shannon Keady 1-06, Evvie Lowdnes 1-1, and Molly Hynes 1-02.

Moycullen are now away to Kinsale of Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final on Sunday November 19 at 1pm.
