Are you considering an apprenticeship to start your career? As part of the EU Vocational Skills Week, which aims to promote the value of vocational education and training, the GRETB Training Centre is hosting an apprenticeship information day on Thursday, November 23.
The Galway Roscommon Education Training Board (GRETB ) is extending an invitation to parents, guardians, students, and all who may be interested in apprenticeship as a career to visit its training centre in Mervue Business Park, Galway, on the day.
The GRETB apprenticeship unit will be providing information stands, talks on apprenticeship, and guided tours of the training centre. The day will be divided into two information sessions — 10.15am to 12.15pm and 1pm to 3pm.
Apprenticeship is defined as a programme of structured education and training which formally combines and alternates learning in the workplace with learning in an education or training centre. It is a dual system, a blended combination of on-the-job employer-based training and off-the-job training.
SOLAS has statutory responsibility for the management of the apprenticeship programme. The GRETB has responsibility for administering the programme for counties Galway and Roscommon.
There are 25 designated craft apprenticeships and currently nine designated 2016+ apprenticeships, with further programmes in development.
Go along on the day and talk to the team. If you require more information on apprenticeship visit www.apprenticeship.ie, or phone 091 706 200.
