An evening of poetry at Over The Edge

Gillian Hamill, Ursula Shields-Huemer, Penelope Shuttle

THE POETS Gillian Hamill, Ursula Shields-Huemer, and Penelope Shuttle will read at the next Over The Edge: Open Reading in the Galway City Library, which also sees the launch of the new issue of Skylight 47.

Penelope Shuttle has lived in Cornwall since 1970, and is the widow of the poet Peter Redgrove. Her first collection of poems was The Orchard Upstairs (1981 ), and she has since published numerous other poetry collections, including Redgrove’s Wife, shortlisted for both the Forward Prize and the TS Eliot Prize in 2006. Her novels include All The Usual Hours Of Sleeping (1969 ), and Rainsplitter in the Zodiac Garden (1977 ). With Peter Redgrove, she co-wrote The Wise Wound: Menstruation and Everywoman (1978 ) and Alchemy for Women: Personal Transformation Through Dreams and the Female Cycle (1995 ).

Ursula Shields-Huemer is from Austria and has lived in Ireland for 25 years. She is a psychotherapist and Jungian analyst. She was shortlisted for the 2017 Over the Edge New Writer’s award. Gillian Hamill is the editor of trade publication, ShelfLife.

The reading is on Thursday November 23 at 6.30pm. The MC will be Susan Millar DuMars. Skylight 47 will be on sale on the evening. Poets are welcome to submit poems for consideration for future issues.
