GALWAY MUSICIANS Emma Lohan and Anna Mullarkey embark on The Black Atlantic Tour of Ireland this month which will include two gigs in Galway, and both women will also be releasing new singles.
Backed by a six-piece band comprising horns, strings, synths, percussion, and Gregory Sanders-Gallego on lead guitar, Emma Lohan’s music features upbeat guitar licks, and rich harmonies. The Irish Times said, "Lohan’s sounds come with beautifully ghostly swirls and elegant, sweet harmonies underneath the bonnet." Her new single, 'Wander Free' is from her latest album, Black Atlantic.
Anna Mullarkey has been a member of My Fellow Sponges for the past five years and composing soundtracks for numerous documentaries. Her current project explores dance music, intertwining retro synthesizers with a modern house edge. She has a new single out, entitled 'Baby Dragon'. The Irish Theatre Festival described her as a "sultry menage of Bjork/Billie Holiday/Phillip Glass at the Wickerman Festival”.
Lohan and Mullarkey play the Black Gate Cultural Centre on Wednesday October 25 followed by a 'house concert' on Friday 27.
