What to do over the mid-term break?

In association with Advertiser Classifieds

It is not long until the mid-term break at the end of October. Great news for children who are off from school. Bad news for parents wondering how are they going to keep their offspring entertained for a week.

But there is no need to worry because here at the advertiser.ie, we provide top tips to parents to keep the young ones occupied and out of mischief during the mid-term.

1 The Salthill Village zombie chase

On Saturday October 28, a crowd of terrifying zombies will once again be released onto the Salthill Prom. Their mission is to capture every human (big or small ) who dares to take on the challenge of The Village Salthill Zombie Chase and prevent them from making it to the safety zone of Salthill Park.

The zombie chase, now in its second year, is a fun filled family 2k chase in aid of the national support and awareness charity, ACT for Meningitis, which has been organised by the community association of local business owners The Village Salthill. Adults places are €10 and places for children under the age of 12 are €5.

2 Macnas

On Sunday October 29, Macnas will stage a Samhain parade in Galway. The world famous parade will see giants and otherworldly performers descend on the city for a night of mischief and mayhem.

3 Carnevil

One for the older children, Carnevil is known as "the west of Ireland’s first scare attraction”. The attraction which scared the living daylights out of the Connacht Rugby team last year will be located above McGettigans Pub on Eyre Square. Carnevil runs until midnight on Halloween night. The opening times are 4pm to 11pm and opens October 28 to 31.

4 Camping

We are lucky to live in one of the most scenic areas in the whole country and this provides plenty of opportunities for walks, exploring, and camping. Camping is always fun, no matter what age you are and is a great way of getting the children outdoors and away from the TV and Playstation.

So there you have it. Four great tips to get your children out of the house over the mid-term break.
