Farrell demands better planning on Renville Road

“Is a fatality necessary before anything is done about dangerous junctions in Oranmore?” This is the question being posed by Labour’s Oranmore candidate Josette Farrell.

Ms Farrell is concerned about traffic safety on the Renville road in Oranmore and has written to the Galway County Council, to encourage the local authority to deal with the situation.

Earlier this week there was an accident on the Reville Road when a lorry collided with a car full of children. Although no one was seriously injured, several people were hospitalised.

Ms Farrell has written to the County Council, asking that a simple mirror be positioned in front of the junction, which would provide better visibility.

“This simple remedy would have prevented this week’s accident,” she said. “However, the dangerous junction could be better improved with the removal of the turn at the top of this junction also.”
