All five new SsangYong Rextons completed a massive drive of 13,000km from Korea to UK last week. They arrived in Frankfurt in time for press day at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with two of the cars going on to complete the epic journey.
Designed to test the vehicles in extreme conditions, the Rexton Trans Eurasia Trail travelled through 10 countries, including China, Kazakhstan and Russia, before arriving at the beautiful Blenheim estate in Oxfordshire in the UK.
Mr Johng-sik Choi, CEO of SsangYong Motor who travelled to Blenheim Palace to greet the teams, said the new, fourth generation Rexton was a major step forward for the brand.
"The Trans Eurasia Trail gave us the ultimate test drive opportunity, and a superb way to launch the car in Europe. This was a huge challenge for the cars and their drivers, and the ultimate test of performance and reliability. The cars equipped themselves brilliantly.”
SsangYong says in heralding major advances in style, quality, safety and technology, this new SsangYong Rexton will be officially launched in the UK and Ireland in October.
It is a large, D/E-segment authentic 4x4, powered by a 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine delivering maximum power of 181PS and maximum torque of 420Nm, with a six-speed manual or seven-speed Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission, and with a 3.5 tonne towing capacity.
SsangYong boasts it represents a huge step forward in every area - exterior looks, interior ambience, structure, safety and performance, while staying true to SsangYong’s core brand values with expected extremely competitive pricing on the road.
