Ballindooley Crossroads set for major redesign

The Ballindooley Crossroads is to be redesigned in the coming months following Transport Infrastructure Ireland confirming it will commit €400,000 towards the project.

The works will include the exit from Ballindooley village on to the Headford Road, and it will be “significantly enhanced”. Fianna Fáil city councillor Ollie Crowe has welcomed what he called “this long overdue redesign”, saying the crossroads have “long been a source of concern” for local residents and for the Galway City Council which has identified it as a high accident location.

He said City Hall’s transport section “deserve credit for securing this funding”, and added: “Road users on the N84 can hopefully look forward to a much safer design.”
