Fifteen new full-time jobs are to be created in Galway by Connolly Motor Group, which has just been appointed as main dealers for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars in the area.
This brings the motor group’s total workforce in Galway to over 50 and to more than 200 across the country. The company is currently recruiting to fill the new positions.
Connollys Mercedes-Benz will open in Briarhill, Ballybrit at the end of October.
Thies will be Galway’s only Mercedes-Benz dealership — there have been no Mercedes-Benz showrooms in the region for the last six years.
The group, which is run by brothers Kevin and Neil Connolly, is one of the biggest motor groups in the country. It already has a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Sligo and has Audi and Volkswagen dealerships in Sligo and Ballina as well as an Audi dealership in Galway.
The appointment, announced by Motor Distributors Limited, distributors for Mercedes-Benz in Ireland, gives Connolly Motor Group responsibility for Mercedes-Benz sales and after-sales services covering the Western region.

The entire range of new Mercedes, including the all new S Class, and 50 Mercedes-Benz certified used cars will be available for viewing at the new showrooms in Ballybrit.
As well as selling the brand-new models in the Mercedes-Benz range, the company will be offering after-sales services to the current Mercedes-Benz drivers in the region.
The showrooms will have space to display up to 15 cars indoors and up to 100 cars outside. The premises will also house a customer reception and individual sales offices.
Connollys Mercedes-Benz will also have a full workshop featuring the most state-of-the-art equipment including four-wheel alignment and the latest diagnostic computers.
It will also have a pre-delivery inspection centre, an extensive parts and accessories department and sales counter.
The opening of this new Galway dealership will extend the number of Mercedes-Benz main dealers nationwide to 15.
