Two second year students received the highest academic awards at the recent Kumon awards ceremony at the Menlo Park Hotel. Maria Thomas and Jesna Johnson both completed the English programme to university entry level, three years ahead of their school stage, making them gold medallist completers.
Two primary school students also received gold medals, achieving academic standards more than three years ahead of their school stage. Silver medals were awarded to students studying material at least two years ahead of their school stage and bronze medals were awarded to those studying material at least six months ahead of their peers, internationally.
While the Kumon study centre offers individualised maths and English study programmes for students of every ability, the underlying mission is: “By discovering the potential of each individual and developing his or her ability to the maximum we aim to foster sound capable people and thus contribute to the global community.”
Galway students from every corner of the globe discover, through their own commitment and perseverance, a capacity to learn independently and progress beyond what they might have previously thought possible. The delighted, confident, strides to the stage of each individual student to receive his/her personal achievement award from the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Michael Cubbard, spoke volumes.
Kumon Galway City West offers a two week free trial from October 1 to November 20. To book your free assessment and a taste of the Kumon adventure, call Denise Heneghan 086 8285780 or email [email protected].
