Gardaí investigating a serious assault which occurred in Roscommon a month ago arrested a man in Ballinasloe on Tuesday.
The man, believed to be in his forties, was one of two men arrested this week as part of the investigation into the incident. A second man, also in his forties, was arrested in Athlone yesterday morning.
Both were being held for questioning at Roscommon Garda Station yesterday evening under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
On the night of August 30 last a 20-year-old man was found with apparent stab injuries in a car park to the rear of Castle Street in Roscommon town. While his condition was initially described as serious it is understood he is continuing to recover from his injuries.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses or for anyone with information to come forward.
