Merit Medical, a global medical device company which employs over 700 employees in their Galway facility in Parkmore, is celebrating 30 years in business this month. Founded in Salt Lake City in the USA, Merit Medical has grown from strength to strength and now generates $750 million in global revenues and employees 5,000 employees worldwide.
Merit Medical’s founder and CEO, Fred Lampropoulos, attributes the success of the company to teamwork stating “We’ve been able to build a company that really has encompassed a strategy. Whether you’re in Singapore, Galway, Tijuana, or Toronto, there’s a core of beliefs, standards, and efforts on how we all fit into this puzzle that ends up very candidly looking like a masterpiece.”
Merit Medical’s Galway facility is an important part of that puzzle as it is considered the centre of excellence for the development and manufacture of a number of the company’s key products and their on-site R&D team are continuously striving for innovative solutions to meet our customer needs.
The Galway facility produced over six million devices in 2016 - a 10 per cent increase on the previous year - and continues to grow. Merit Medical is focused on people development, believing that if they can provide people with a platform on which to perform, the space to be creative and the ability to surprise, then anything is possible.
