Galway to host Ireland’s biggest Med Tech conference and Expo

Galway is the epicentre of medical technology expertise in the West of Ireland, and it is about to put Ireland on the map for growing that industry with Medical Technology Ireland’s Expo and Conference 2017 coming to Ballybrit Racecourse next week.

“Medical Technology employs 9,000 people in this area and it’s growing,” said Maurice O’Gorman, President of the Galway Chamber of Commerce. “Galway is recognized for its creativity and for its engineers, and putting them together with industry leaders is helping build out the medtech story here,” he said.

Ballybrit is a world class Exhibition and Conference Centre being utilised for the first time to host such an event, right in the heart of the Medical Device Cluster in Ireland. More than 150 vendors from around the world will be exhibiting at the event on September 27 and 28, illustrating the latest in technology, research and development, manufacturing and design.

The two-day show will also offer networking with established companies here and include speakers on the latest in regulations, funding opportunites, intellectual property rights and cyber security from around the world.

Medical Technology Ireland Expo and Conference 2017 brings researchers, educators, the Chamber of Commerce, and established industry leaders together to fuel the future of the med tech industry on a global level.

“We feel that getting the supply chain manufacturers and the reasearch and development companies together with the multi-nationals and the Academic Innovation and Research Institutes

like this is the answer to growing this industry in Ireland. And we are so excited to be doing that at Ballybrit,” said Tom Burke with Medical Technology Ireland.
