Miko and Micheal

A poem written by John Quinn, Stradbally North, Clarinbridge, inspired by the photo used in the Galway Advertiser last week of Miko and Micheal Donoghue with the Liam McCarthy Cup.

A loving son’s tender embrace

A father’s grasp of a trophy, enthralled,

Neither wanting to let go,

Miko and Micheal.

Years of drought and loss and pain,

Days when victory would not fall,

Now wiped by the embrace

Of Miko and Micheal

For years the father has dreamed

Of a team to answer the call

Now the son has built that team

That binds Miko and Micheal.

So the tears can freely flow

Now the prize is shared by all,

A truly special moment

For Miko and Micheal.
