Have fun this autumn, explore your creativity, and get back to drawing and painting with a group of like-minded people.
Painting and drawing classes start on October 10, 11, and 12 from 7pm to 9pm at Galway Technical Institute, and run for 10 weeks. The class tutor for this term is Catherine Corcoran BSc hons, HDipEd, BA art and design. Ms Corcoran has been teaching drawing for more than 15 years in Galway Technical Institute as part of the Adult Education Programme and has also taught painting for several years with the Paintbox, Galway.
Monday evenings will be dedicated to fine art drawing techniques for absolute beginners and improvers. Drawing is a wonderful skill to develop and people find that they begin to see their environment more clearly with new perspectives. Drawing is about learning to see in a fresh way, with a new awareness. It has been used by humans from the beginning to help with problem solving and with communicating ideas and feelings.
Painting classes on Tuesday evenings will explore painting in different media, ie, watercolour, acrylic, and oil painting, and this class is also suitable for absolute beginners and improvers.
Wednesday evening classes will be open to either drawing, painting or a mix of both depending on students' interests.
Go to www.gti.ie to find out more about the classes outlined above and also to book your place online. Numbers are limited to 12 students per class.
