The healthcare sector in Ireland has witnessed significant changes in the past 10 years, increased regulation now means carers and healthcare workers are required to obtain FETAC/QQI accredited courses to work in the care sector. HealthSET is an accredited healthcare training company in Galway and Ennis, run by nurses, which specialises in a range of QQI Level 5 healthcare courses.
HealthSET QQI courses are taught by highly experienced registered nurse tutors which allows learners to gain access to up-to-date clinical practices. With high learner satisfaction rates and small class sizes, adult learners gain high quality tuition and one to one support. On the courses, students will learn hands-on nursing care skills through assimilated scenarios and practical demonstrations under the supervision of qualified nurses.
The home care sector remains a growth sector in Ireland, with many of HealthSET graduates gaining employment in the private home care sector after completing these courses.
Currently, the minimal requirement to work in the private home care sector is QQI Level 5 care of the older person and QQI Level 5 care skills. QQI Level 5 care of the older person starts Saturday, September 30, and QQI Level 5 care skills starts Wednesday, October 4. Courses are held in the Ballybane Enterprise Centre (SCCUL ), Ballybane, Galway. These comprehensive part-time courses are delivered from 9.30am to 3.3pm, one day a week, for five weeks.
HealthSET also has a range of modules run in its Ennis based training centre — QQI Level 5 infection prevention and control starts October 12, and QQI Level 5 care support starts October 20. See www.healthset.ie for further details.
