The Shape Of Things - theatre for tots

Branar and Starcatchers bring acclaimed show to Nuns Island Theatre

THE SHAPE Of Things, an imaginative and interactive show for tiny theatre buffs aged between six months and two years, and combining puppetry, object theatre, music and sound, returns to Galway this month.

Following the huge success of the 2016 Irish and Scottish tour of The Shape of Things - including a show at the Baboró International Arts Festival for Children - Branar, together with Scottish Early Years organisation Starcatchers, will stage the show in the Nuns Island Theatre on Monday September 18 (2pm ), Tuesday 19 (10am and 11.30am ), Monday 25 (2pm ), and Tuesday 26 (10am and 11.30am ).

Set in a specially designed, soft, and tactile space, to provide a relaxing environment for adults and babies, this non-verbal show explores how everything around us is created from different shapes, textures, and materials. Sometimes there are so many shapes that some get lost. This is a story of two shapes, puppets Cubert and Triantán, and the adventures they have finding their way back to each other. Afterwards children can have a chance to stay and play with soft shapes and engage with the performers.

"This show offers a wonderful opportunity for parents and babies to take time out and to experience something special together," said Branar artistic director Marc MacLochlainn. "The power of early creative development for babies and children cannot be underestimated in terms of its positive impact on all aspects of their lives."

Tickets are €10 (adult ) and €5 (child ). For more information contact the Galway Arts Centre (091 - 565 886, www.galwayartscentre.ie ).
