COME ON Live Long, the Dublin indie/alternative/electronica quartet, hailed by Nialler 9 as "one of the best live bands in Ireland", who "specialise in dreamy folktronica with a futuristic twist," according to Hot Press, play Galway this week.
The band - Robert Ardiff, Louise Gaffney, Ken McCabe, David O'Connor - play a free show at the Róisín Dubh this Saturday [September 9] at 9pm, performing songs from their albums, Everything Fall (2013 ) and In The Still (2017 ).
Everything Fall has amassed more than five million Spotify plays, and won huge critical acclaim. In The Still was released in May. The Last Mixed Tape called it "a quietly ambitious record...a more self-assured take on the alternative-pop reaching of Everything Fall that provides several stand-out moments and a wholly satisfying sonic journey overall."
Ken McCabe, who also produced In The Still, said it, "documents a time where we collectively learned how to accept life in all of its highs and lows, that when things become dormant there is always something waiting to happen, an imminent stir in the still, in whatever form that may be. Some of these songs coming straight from our most personal spaces, late at night, in our respective bedrooms, and some coming from energetic bursts of all day and all night writing sessions together. We know this one has taken its time but we have pored over every tiny facet of it to make sure it is exactly as we want you to hear it.”
Come On Live Long have played Electric Picnic, Body and Soul, and Camden Crawl, and have toured Canada, Ireland, and Britain. Their music has also featured on numerous documentaries and short films. When performing live, the band use samplers, synths, ukeleles, guitars, keys and percussion to create what Jim Carroll in The Irish Times called "an impressive, full-bodied, soaring widescreen sound".
