New pre and after-school to open at St Pat’s school

A new preschool and afterschool centre for three to five year olds will open at St Patrick's primary school in Lombard Street next month.

The new service will cater for pre-school children aged three to five years and will offer the free ECCE childcare scheme.

The service will also provide after-school care to children of St Pat's and surrounding schools. A breakfast club will be available for boys attending St Pat's.

Helen O'Flynn and Fiona Kelly of Little Angels have 12 years experience in pre-school and after-school care in the Oranmore area. They are excited to be part of this new venture with such an iconic and well respected school in the heart of Galway city. Helen and Fiona understand the importance of providing quality childcare to all families and are offering all the subsidised pre-school and afterschool schemes.

The sessional pre-school service will have a core curriculum based on the aisteair/Siolta model, this will be led by a highly qualified level 7 educator. The emphasis will be on play based learning with elements of Montessori.

The breakfast club will be open to all boys attending St Pats from 8am, a choice of hot or cold breakfast is provided to set the boys up for a busy day at school.

The after-school will be open not only to the boys of St Pats but to all children from the surrounding schools. A warm healthy snack will be given, followed by a supervised homework hour. A varied curriculum will be offered in the afternoon including arts and crafts, sports, yoga/mindfullness and outings.

St Pat's pre-school and after-school is open to children of all ethnic diversities, and abilities.

Bookings for after-school can be made on a part time basis depending on how many days a week parents need. You can also book for the inital 1 1/2 hours so children can be collected after their snack and have homework completed.
