The Galway Education Centre is offering an ideal opportunity..

Ever wanted to see the Great Wall of China, follow the ancient path of the Silk Road or visit the Forbidden City in Beijing? Want to bring greater awareness of the Chinese language and culture to your school? Perhaps your company is doing business within the burgeoning Chinese markets and you want to better equip yourself to deal with your Chinese colleagues? The Galway Education Centre is offering an ideal opportunity to prepare for any visit to China with a series of 10 Chinese culture and language classes being offered this autumn.

The classes take place on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6.30-8pm beginning September 20th and run for a series of 10 weeks. Classes are available both for beginners and improvers, with participants taught the rudiments of Chinese etiquette as well as fundamental language skills. The courses are practical in nature with students participating in an active way – enjoying a Chinese Tea Ceremony, learning to make Chinese dumplings and how to eat with chopsticks. Students also learn about the various Chinese festivals throughout the year and are given lots of practical advice and tips on preparing for their visit to China.

The courses are being jointly delivered by the Galway Education Centre and the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland.

Fees are €150 standard rate, €120 for returning students and €105 for senior citizens. The courses are free of charge for primary and secondary school teachers.
