Angling projects and conservation initiatives, to help ensure the State’s fish stocks and angling infrastructure are protected and enhanced into the future, are in line to receive State funding of between €50,000 and €1,500,000.
The Inland Fisheries Ireland Funding Call 2017 is made up of the following funds: Salmon Conservation Fund to a maximum of €500,000; Midland Fisheries Fund of €50,000; National Strategy for Angling Development (NSAD ) Fund of €1,500,000. The funds are open to communities across the State.
Fine Gael Galway West TD and Minister for Community Development, Natural Resources and Digital Development with responsibility for Inland Fisheries, Seán Kyne, is encouraging clubs, associations, and community groups, as well as local authorities in Galway and the broader western region, to applying for project support to IFI.
“I’m delighted with the significant increase in funding for angling which follows on from the increased funding I secured in the Budget for Inland Fisheries Ireland,” he said, “which has been further enhanced by a mid-year reallocation of funding in the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment.”
Inland Fisheries Ireland will hold regional information workshops for those interested in applying for funding. The Galway workshop will take place in the Menlo Park Hotel on Wednesday September 6 at 7pm.
