APP Kirrane auctioneering has seen an increase of up to 15 per cent in property prices in Galway city and county in the first half of 2017, with houses in the more sought after areas of Salthill, Taylor’s Hill, The Claddagh, College Road, The Green, and the city centre achieving even greater increases.
The dearth of supply, coupled with an upsurge in demand, and the positive impact of the help to buy scheme has driven prices upwards. Galway has seen the strongest price growth at 15.7 per cent compared with the same period in 2016 followed by Limerick at 14.4 per cent, Cork at 10.7 per cent, and Dublin at 9.2 per cent.
It is also worth noting that there has been a substantial decline in the number of properties for sale nationwide with 21,500 homes on the market in May of this year compared with 24,700 a year ago.
