Are you ready Galway's Pride festival?

Fun events and a Rocky Horror Picture Show singalong screening in advance of Pride Galway 17

THERE IS less than a fortnight to go to the Galway Community Pride Festival, and yet in some ways, Pride has already started, with a host of pre-festival events taking place over the next week.

This evening at 9pm sees round two of Pride Idol in NOVA, the X-Factor style singing and now lip-syncing competition. Round one saw Conor Flaherty go through to the final on August 3, while Bradley Rowles won the surprise lip-sync battle. There is still time to enter. See contact details below.

On Sunday at 2pm, NOVA will host the Gaymazing Race. Teams of two will head of on foot around Galway following clues, get held up at road blocks, and completing challenges in order to be crowned the winners. Entry is €5 per person.

Tuesday August 1 will see the now traditional annual showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Róisín Dubh. Entry is €5! Doors open at 8.30pm with the film starting at 9pm. Popcorn will be provided and audience members are encouraged to dress as a favourite character from the film.

All funds raised from these and previous fundraisers go towards the annual Galway Pride festival which runs from August 7 to 13. For more details see galwaypride.com, Facebook, or email [email protected].
