HOT CHIP front men Alexis Taylor and Owen Clarke DJ at Electric Garden & Theatre this weekend to mark the Upper Abbeygate Street venue's fifth birthday.
Taylor and Clarke will be spinning the decks on the Electric main floor on Saturday. Hot Chip have won acclaim from both dance music fans and indie heads for their exciting fusion of indie-pop with dance rhythms and sensibilities, as in such songs as 'Ready For The Foor', 'Shake A Fist', and the mighty 'Over & Over'.
Also playing that night will be Amersterdam DJ Mr Mendel in the Garden, presented by Telephones. Expect him to play disco, soul, Afro, Brazil, and house music. Mr Mendel holds residencies at parties like I Love Vinyl, Wicked Jazz Sounds, and Doka. Tickets are available from Resident Advisor.
Electric is also hosting two Galway International Arts Festival shows this weekend. Tomorrow from 11pm sees Shivers present long time Panorama Bar resident Tama Sumo, spinning disco, Afro, house, and techno, on Electric's main floor. On Saturday at 10pm, the women from GASH collective present Karen Gwyer at Factory. Tickets for these shows are available from Resident Advisor; the GIAF box office, Forster Street; and www.giaf.ie
