Galway's Rofi James shortlisted for 2FM's Play The Picnic

Vote for Galway band to play Electic Picnic in September

GALWAY BAND Rofi James have been shortlisted for 2FM's Play The Picnic, and are calling on the public to vote for them, and put them in with a serious chance of performing at Electric Picnic this September.

Rofi James - Jamie Murray, Rónán Ó Flaithearta, Cathal Leonard, Eoin Ó Conghaile - have been shortlisted alongside 30 other acts. The Top 10 acts with the most votes will get to play the festival, but voting closes on Friday July 28 at 12 noon. To vote for Rofi James, text Picnic 8 to 50300. Voters must be 18 or over. The winning act and competition winners will be announced on July 28. Texts cost €2. The Jack & Jill Foundation will receive a minimum of €1.63 from each entry.

"It was on the streets of Galway we started as a band, busking to cold pigeons on Shop Street," says Jamie Murray. "It has been a major goal since to perform our own music at a major festival. We hope to gain the support of the people of Galway, whilst raising funds for The Jack & Jill Foundation."

The band have released the singles 'Fool For Your Love’ and ‘Open Eyes’, the latter being nominated for Best Single at the 2017 Pure M Awards. They have also played support to Picture This and Ryan Sheridan. Their music has been played on RTÉ 2FM and iRadio. Upcoming gigs include two shows on the Aran Islands - Tigh Ned's, Inis Óirr (July 28 ) and Joe Watty's, Inis Mór, on August 7.
