THE SECOND annual Furbo Art exhibition returns to the meeting hall of the Furbo Baptist Church, displaying work by 17 professional artists, drawn from the Na Forbacha area and the Baptist congregation.
"The amount of artistic talent in such a small geographic area is phenomenal," says wood sculptor Liam O’Neill, who is also a member of the church. "Our congregation is also highly unusual in that we have so many painters and sculptors as attendees. We view the arts as a unifying force in the community."
The official opening takes place on Monday July 17 at 6pm. The guest speaker will be Senator Pádraig O’Ceidigh. All are welcome. The exhibition is open to the public from Friday July 14 to Saturday July 22 (except Sunday ) from 10am to 6pm. Works will be for sale with the money divided between Furbo Baptist Church building enhancement fund, and Ciste Cabhrach na Forbacha - a local community crisis fund.
