Free upcoming events at Coole

A number of free events will take place at Coole in the coming weeks.

This Sunday, July 9, there will be a summer flower walk, starting at 3pm. Discover the colourful expanse of wild flowers in the nature reserve that have colonised the new spaces opened up to sunlight since the removal of non-native conifers in recent years. Many turlough flowers are also in bloom at this time of year. The free walk does not require booking and will last approximately an hour and a half starting from the visitor centre.

The ever popular weekly activity for children, Open Your Eyes to Nature, continues each Wednesday afternoon from 3pm to 4.30pm throughout July and August. Exploring nature through the senses, children from five to 10 years of age are encouraged to discover the natural wonders of Coole through their own observations. Children must be accompanied by an adult and numbers are limited so booking is essential.

No dogs are permitted during the nature activities or on guided walks for the comfort of others, with the exception of guide dogs. For enquiries and bookings phone 091 631804 or email [email protected].

Why not also call in to the visitor centre and view the multimedia exhibition on Coole Park through the eyes of Me and Nu, granddaughters of Lady Gregory, or the 30 minute audiovisual presentation Lady Gregory of Coole. Last showing is at 5pm. Discover the magic that drew WB Yeats to Coole for more than 20 summers. Admission is free. The visitor centre is open from 10am to 6pm daily. Last admission is 5.45pm.

The tearooms are also open daily.
