New Ireland West Airport gallery is a playground for aviation enthusiasts

Never be bored at Ireland West Airport again — Located upstairs adjacent to the Sláinte restaurant, a new aviation gallery provides a great way to spend time while waiting for a flight to arrive or depart.

The gallery includes a live flight tracker, where you can view all aircraft movements coming in and out of Irish airports.

Also featured are photo and video walls, where you can take a trip down memory lane with the famous airport documentary On a Wing and a Prayer, showing the history of the airport on state of the art big screens, and can view more than 30 photos charting the airport’s history and progress over the last 30 years.

There are interactive touchscreens for children and adults alike, displaying interesting facts about aviation, pictures capturing significant events and famous passengers who have used the airport. Also featured is a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the day to day work carried out by the various departments across the airport.

From the windows at the gallery you can observe planes readying for takeoff and parking after landing. Watch the Ireland West Knock Airport ground operations as they manage aircraft on turnaround and greet arriving passengers as they disembark from the aircraft.

The new gallery is yet another addition to an airport that has continued to improve and evolve in its 37 years of existence, with passengers for the year 2016 totalling at 734,031.
