Spinathon a huge success for Let’s Get Talking, Galway

The first ever Spinathon in aid of Let’s Get Talking Galway has been deemed a great success, both financially and in raising the awareness soft mental health issues.

The event was held in Purefit last Monday evening and organiser Jocelyn Cunningham has express her gratitude to all who helped sponsor and promote the event.

“We had so much fun throughout the evening, there was lots of effort, motivational music, laughter, fun and dancing on the bikes, the atmosphere was electric”. says Jocelyn Cunninghan

“I am so very thankful to everyone who came along to spin to the beat with me to raise awareness around mental health matters. Joining me on my first spin was Anne Rabbitte TD and alongside her, Cllr Niall McNelis. On the other side of the room was Kieran O Malley aka The Galway Player and the wonderful Katie Geoghegan of Catwalk Modelling Agency.

After that, all spin sessions were full to capacity and everyone had an enjoyable time. Smiles were mixed with grimaces as the spin class progressed to a more challenging but manageable pace. At the end of the day, our aim was to raise awareness around mental health matters and I am happy that this was accomplished, says Ms Cunningham.

More than €1,100 was raised on the night and t here is still time to make a donation should you wish to do so via idonate. https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/11365630_spinathon-for--mentalhealthmatters.html.
