HOLY F*** have been called "a hardcore thrift-store found-object punk band" with a relentless commitment to rhythm and a sense for atmosphere better matched to a close encounter with the third kind than a simple rock concert.

Holy Fuck is a Canadian electronica band from Toronto. They use live instrumentation and miscellaneous instruments and non-instruments (including a 35 mm film synchronizer, toy keyboards, and toy phaser guns ) to achieve electronic-sounding effects without the use of laptops or programmed backing tracks. As Pitchfork said: "The band was formed with the intent of creating the equivalent of modern electronic music without actually using the techniques".
To date they have released four albums - Holy Fuck (2005 ), LP (2007 ), Latin (2010 ), and Congrats (2016 ) - and during that time, they earned the praise of the late Lou Reed, who said they were the best band he had seen at one of the SXSW festivals.
Congrats was recorded by the same lineup that recorded Latin: founder Brian Borcherdt, Graham Walsh, Matt 'Punchy' McQuaid, and Matt Schulz. Describing the process of making the album, Walsh says: “What gets run through our system is the seed of the idea for our music, and the system is what we play. This record is almost a beginning—the first stage of a new way for us.” The album saw the band, not so much control their sound as concentrate it, to create something heavier, wilder, leaner, sharper, more daring and more unpredictable than before.
