Set sail on Galway Harbour during SeaFest 2017, Ireland’s national maritime festival, from Friday 30th June to Sunday 2nd July 2017.
An exciting addition to this year’s festival programme is the range of free activities on the water in Galway Harbour and Rusheen Bay.
The Irish Sailing Association is offering Keelboat Try Sailing sessions to encourage visitors to get out on the water and try sailing for the first time. Disabled access to Try Sailing will also be available to budding sailors.
There will also be free boat trips to the Claddagh Basin, as well as ‘Come n Sail’ sessions on the famous Galway Hookers. The boat trips will be running every hour from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July 2017.
The Northern and Western Regional Authority and Rusheen Bay Windsurfing is providing a free family fun day on Saturday 1st July 2017. There will be free windsurfing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding lessons.
The water sports will take place in Rusheen Bay, five kilometres from Galway city. In addition, visitors will also enjoy tours of ocean-going vessels, such as the Irish Naval Vessel LÉ Ciara, the Marine Institute’s research vessel, RV Celtic Explorer, and the famous tall ship The Phoenix.
Further details and booking information for activities will be made available via the SeaFest website at www.seafest.ie
