Killeeneen National School, Craughwell presents the fourth 5km annual road race

Killeeneen National School will hold its fourth 5km road race on Thursday, June 15 .

The 5km race, which is AI certified and chip timed, will kick start at 7pm from the historical Liam Mellows 1916 Commemorative monument located in the heart of Killeeneen.

The race launch took place at Killeeneen NS and was attended by Noel Gorman, Craughwell AC, Pádraig Kelleher, Wattle Grove (main sponsor ), Siobhán Gohery, school principal-acting, and Peter O’Sullivan, road race committee member.

To register for the main 5km race, visit www.runireland.com by Wednesday, June 14.

Registration will also take place at Killeeneen National School on the evening of the event from 5.30pm to 6.45pm with a €15 registration fee.

A long sleeved technical T-shirt is available to the first 100 registered.

The annual event will also feature a 1km primary school run (6.15pm ) and a 2.5km walk (6.30pm ) so there is something for everyone and it promises to be a great event with refreshments and prize giving afterwards.

Speaking at the launch, Éadaoin O’Callaghan from Killeeneen National School said; "I am delighted the race has become an annual event and while it is very popular among race enthusiasts it is also a great event for the community in general."

Funds raised from the event go towards the Killeeneen National School Building Fund.
