Margaretta D’Arcy will Tell Them Everything

Activist to launch book about the women of Armagh prison

TELL THEM Everything, a book by the veteran Galway activist and author Margaretta D’Arcy will be launched this month in The Women’s Pop Up Playhouse as part of The Colours Free Festival.

Tell Them Everything recounts Margaretta's time in Armagh Gaol in the 1980s and the women political prisoners there - one of the most overlooked and forgotten realities of the Northern conflict. The book will show how a grassroots women’s group in West Belfast shamed the male dominated Republican movement into acknowledging them.

The launch takes place in the playhouse at 10 St Bridget’s Place, Lower, Woodquay, on Monday June 26, and runs until July 3 each day at 3pm. The guest speaker will be Sunny Jacobs, author of Stolen Times, about the five years she spent on death row in the US. There will also be an exhibition of cards and letters sent to Margaretta when she was in gaol for being on the runway at Shannon Airport.
