The annual Breast Cancer Research Pink Afternoon at The Lodge at Ashford Castle takes place on Friday, June 16 at 12pm. The hugely popular event being held overlooking Lisloughrey Quay is the perfect way to connect with the important women in your life while supporting Breast Cancer Research (formerly NBCRI ).
The afternoon will begin with a sparkling drinks reception followed by a three-course lunch with MC Johanna Downes and guest speaker Dr. Orla Smithwick. There will be a fundraising auction hosted by Galway Bay FM’s Ollie Turner and live music afterwards.
A milliner showcase will feature headpieces by Majella Dalton of Crevation Design, Gillian Duggan Designs, Brid O’Driscoll Millinery, Mary White Millinery and Andrea Tighe of Tí Tighe. There will also be a “Milliner’s Choice” Competition on the day - each milliner will select a lady of their choice and the winner will receive a once off head piece, just in time for the Galway Races.
Johanna Downes from the Breast Cancer Research Galway voluntary fundraising committee encourages supporters to attend the event. “It is a fabulous event and a wonderful opportunity for ladies to come together and enjoy an afternoon of style and fun with all proceeds going directly to Breast Cancer Research. The Pink Afternoon has been a sell-out success for the past few years so get your tickets before it’s too late!”
Tickets for the Pink Afternoon are €70 per person. To purchase tickets, please visit www.BreastCancerResearch.ie, email [email protected], or call 091 863 917. There will be a special bus service running from Galway for this event. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Please contact Breast Cancer Research for more details.
Proceeds from the event will support Breast Cancer Research, a national charity that raises funds in support of world-class breast cancer research at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Donations to Breast Cancer Research are currently helping the research team at the Lambe Institute for Translational Research advance its work focused on personalised medicine, breast regeneration, and innovative diagnostics and therapeutics. By funding this research, Breast Cancer Research aims to positively impact future outcomes for breast cancer patients.
