Last week in the Circle of Life garden in Salthill, at a special annual remembrance event organised by Anam Cara Galway which supports bereaved parents and families in Galway City and County, 30 families gathered to remember their son or daughter who had died,
This event was made all the more special by the unveiling of a beautiful bird bath to accompany the stone bench for bereaved families designed and handcrafted by Denis Goggin.
The Circle of Life garden, is dedicated to organ donor families and is a beautiful peaceful sanctuary in the heart of Salthill. Now there is a little corner of it for bereaved parents and their families, where they can sit, reflect and remember their loved one who has died.
Anam Cara Galway Volunteer Caroline Flahertysaid that this was a very special and gentle evening, uniting families who have experienced the ultimate tragedy the death of a precious son or daughter
“Like this special garden that gives people a sanctuary to reflect, Anam Cara Galway continues to offer a sanctuary to parents where they can meet with other bereaved parents,” she said.
Anam Cara Galway which meets monthly at Ballybane Enterprise Centre between September and June each year, is hosting its monthly meeting for bereaved parents on Wednesday June 7 from 19:30 to 21:00 in the Ballybane Enterprise Centre, Galway (main reception/café area ).The meeting offers parents a safe and comfortable setting where they can connect with other bereaved parents who will understand the depth of their loss and grief.
Anam Cara is open to all bereaved parents, regardless of the age your child died or the circumstances of the death.
Anam Cara have also produced an Information Pack for bereaved parents containing seven booklets on topics such as A Dad’s Grief, Coping with Sudden Death and Supporting My Family.
