Did you know that Friday and Saturday June 9 and 10 are National Sunflower Days, during which much needed funds are raised for local hospice services?
As the sunflower is the emblem of Hospice internationally, thousands of sunflower pins will be sold throughout Ireland over the course of the two days, together with other Sunflower Day merchandise.
All proceeds from the sale of these items will go directly towards funding the Galway Hospice Home Care, Day Care and Bereavement Support services. Last year alone, the Galway Hospice Home Care team made 7,237 ‘Hospice at Home’ visits to patients in their own homes, and there were 1,324 patient visits to the Hospice Day Care Unit.
Can you spare just a few hours of your time on either Friday June 9 or Saturday June 10?
They need as many volunteers as possible to sell sunflowers in Galway city and throughout the county on behalf of Galway Hospice. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Galway Hospice Fundraising Department on 091 770868 or e-mail [email protected].
All hospice services are provided free-of-charge to patients and their families who are coping with the impact of life-limiting illnesses, for as long as they are required. Fundraising events such as Sunflower Days are extremely important to the Hospice to ensure the ongoing free availability of these services. Please help us to continue helping others.
