FOR 10 years Mike Skinner was the man behind the musical phenomenon The Streets. In that time he won an Ivor Novello, a Brit, and made a significant impact on British urban music.
Having retired the moniker of The Streets, Skinner continues to push forward with his genre bending DJ sets, as Galway will see when he DJs at HALO nightclub, Upper Abbeygate Street, on Bank Holiday Sunday June 4, for it's Icons At HALO series of shows.
Skinner's DJ sets mix house, old skool hip hop, drum'n'bass bangers, classic tracks, and his own up to the minute refixes. Having built up a huge online fanbase for his Skinimix podcasts, there has been great demand to bring Skinner's DJing skills into the clubs. As both an entertainer and musical trendsetter, he has never been bigger. Original Pirate Material was recently judged the album of the decade by The Guardian, while OPM and A Grand Don't Come for Free were also highly praised by the NME.
