ENTRIES ARE sought for the 29th Galway Film Fleadh's Pitching Competition, which seeks ideas, at any stage of development, from budding screenwriters and filmmakers.
In the film industry, ‘the pitch’ is how a writer puts forward the idea for a film/documentary/etc, and through that convinces a director, producer, or financiers, to back the project.
Applicants must write a 500-word pitch (from beginning to end – no cliffhangers ) of his/her feature film idea. Any genre of feature drama, documentary, or animation will be considered. A number of finalists will then be selected to pitch their idea as an ‘Elevator Pitch’ of 90 seconds in front of an audience and a panel of industry judges on the closing day of the fleadh. The winner will be announced at the Awards Ceremony that evening and will receive a cash prize of €3,000.
The closing date for entries is Wednesday June 7 and participation fee is €30. Entry forms, guidelines, and testimonials from past participants are all available at www.filmfleadh.ie The Galway Film Fleadh runs from July 11 to 16.
