The Mayor of Galway Cllr Padraig Conneely claimed this week that he was attacked by “vicious dogs”. However councillors expressed more concern for the animals.
The issue of Traveller families encamping illegally on Millar’s Lane in the Knocknacarra area was discussed at Monday’s city council meeting.
During the discussion, the Mayor of Galway Cllr Padraig Conneely said he visited the site and while there “was attacked by vicious dogs,” he said. “I feared for my life!”
There was little sympathy for the Mayor though. All one Fianna Fáil councillor had to say when he hard about the dog attack was: “How did the dogs come out of it?”
